  • Introduction

The 7th Annual SWAAC ELSO Conference is to be hosted in Johannesburg, South Africa from 21 – 22 February. The conference aims to highlight Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation as a form of Advanced Critical Care. This is the first time a conference of this nature is to be hosted in South Africa.
The journal aims to have all speakers, international and local, submit a review article on the topics to be presented at the conference. In addition to this, the conference has opened up for abstract, journal and poster presentations for mainly research and review articles.
As ECMO is still a relatively new procedure within South Africa, it is felt that all measures should be exhausted to increase awareness and understanding of this modality in order to ensure optimal delivery and patient care.
    Aims and Scope:
    1. Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO)
    2. Extracorporeal Life Support (ECLS)
    3. Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS)
    4. eCPR
    5. Paediatric Life Support
    6. Advanced Critical Care
